ABOUT (GENERAL)

Sharyo is an LRV (Light Rail Vehicle) cat, based off of the electric LRV trains that New Jersey uses. She was born/manufactured in Japan, and came to New Jersey a short time later.

She mainly consumes electricity, but she also likes sour candy and California rolls.

She has 20 siblings, all of whom were born/manufactured alongside her. 111 is named Akira, 114 is named Zane, and 118 is named Rush.

ABOUT (SRIBBLES)

She and her 20 siblings were manufactured in Japan. "New Jersey Transit" isn't a real thing in the sribbles universe, it's actually a fictional agency made up by a team of writers. For a movie. Yes. Sharyo and her siblings were manufactured for a movie. After the filming, they were put on sale. Mose bought them and then put them in a warehouse, likely adjacent to his lab. It is unknown if he takes any care of them, other than giving them magazines to read.

New Jersey isn't a real place in the sribbles universe, so she and her siblings do not live in New Jersey. Mose's lab is located in Friendship City, CT. So they actually live in Connecticut here.

APPEARANCE

Sharyo is a cat-based creature with her main fur color being white. Her secondary fur color is black, and her tertiary fur color is blue. On her face is a pattern consisting of three rectangles, with the central one being taller than the others. This is to mimic the front of the trains she was based off of. In fact, the central rectangle, which resembles the windshield, has the marker lights and the electronic destination sign at the top. The marker lights act as her eyebrows. The other smaller rectancles, which touches her ears, goes around and connects at the back of her head. So really it's just one really wide rectangle. Also on her face is the "NJ TRANSIT" text logo and the "disco stripes" logo. "112A" is marked on both of her ears. This means her fleet number is 112, and her A end is on her head. "112B" is written on the outer sides of her feet - where her B end is.

On her body is a pattern that resembles the livery that the trains have. On the outer sides of her body is her white fur color. On each side, there's a blue stripe looping from her shoulder to her foot. Then there's a thicker black stripe adjacent to the blue stripe. This leaves a wide white stripe, her main fur color, to go down in the center, until they converge before her feet.

Her tail is a pantograph, which is used to pick up electricity from overhead wires. Her paw pads are black.

When she is "in service", i.e., running along the tracks, she walks on all fours, with her pantograph up in contact with the overhead wires.

DEVELOPMENT

2025

On May 2, after a long and hot summer day, CoMo took an electric light rail train in New Jersey. Not in the best state of mind, he was remembering when, in probably 2021, he compared the livery of the trains to shiny umbreons, since they were both black with a blue accent color. Now, five years later, CoMo was wondering if he could make a character with the livery of these trains.

CoMo then thought about that 2023 trend of drawing trains as dragons. Instead of a dragon, CoMo decided to draw a cat instead, because that's the only creature that CoMo is consistently able to draw. Some notable design decisions CoMo made for this cat is putting the destination sign and direction markers (is that what those are?) on her forehead, putting the "A" end car numbers on her ears and the "B" end car numbers on her feet, and making her pupils the colors of the hazard and tail lights near the headlights.

Wait. It's a her? You heard that right. It's also an it too. What? Why? Well, machines are often referred to using she/her pronouns. And, since they're machines, and thus inanimate objects, are also referred to using it/its. As a result, it just made sense to refer to her using she/it. Now, onto her name. CoMo decided to name her "Sharyo", since the company that manufactured the trains is Kinki-Sharyo.

CoMo also decided to give her a birthday. Originally, he made her birthday 2001, because that was the year that these trains first started running on the Newark Light Rail. He also made his birthdate August 25, since CoMo remembered that the older trains (PCC streetcars) that used to run on the line last run on August 24, 2001.

Unfortunately, after looking at Wikipedia, CoMo realized that the first time the LRVs ran was actually on August 27. So CoMo changed her birthdate to that. But then he realized: the LRVs were actually built in 1999. So CoMo made her birth year that. As a result, her birthday is August 27, 1999.

Now, at the same time, CoJu was making a V-Tuber avatar of Sage. CoJu completely messed up his tail. CoJu then pointed out CoMo keeps making his characters "weird". CoJu said that CoMo would make one of his characters have sexual relations with their mother. As a result, CoMo wrote on his Sharyo drawing, "Likes to fuck his mom". He then crossed it out. Since CoMo still wanted to put some sort of sexual innuendo somewhere, he decided to make an occupation field, and put "Letting people ride her".

One day later, on May 3, CoMo decided to draw her again. He then gave her a major design change. He changed her plain white cat tail to a pantograph for overhead wire pickup. This was something CoMo wanted to do immediately after making her first drawing. On May 5, Julius thought that Sharyo would like Shot In The Dark by Ozzy- wait a second. Not Ozzy Osbourne. I mean Within Temptation. That's a band.

On May 8, CoJu was asking CoMo about how Sharyo operates in the real world. This included questions about where and how she lived, and if she actually was a mode of transportation. CoMo, who is usually the one to ask these types of questions in the first place, was completely dumbfounded. He had not thought about any of these things with respect to Sharyo, since she was such a ridiculous character in the first place.

After many brainstrommings, CoMo established that Sharyo was related to 20 other LRV cats. This is because the Newark Light Rail fleet consists of 21 vehicles. CoMo and CoJu then wondered why Sharyo was the only one with a name. CoMo said it was because she was "special". CoJu said that Sharyo's family was disappointed at her for preferring California rolls. CoMo then said that's why she was special. He then said that Sharyo named herself that. CoJu then said "who would name themselves "vehicle"?".

Eventually, CoMo and CoJu settled on her being an actor for a movie, along with her twenty siblings. After the filming, they were all bought by Mose, and live in a warehouse, probably adjacent to Mose's lab. CoMo said that once Mose finishes reading his magazines, he puts it in the warehouse for Sharyo and her siblings to read. Mose recieves royalties from the movie.

CoMo said that the movie they starred in was a children's movie which was about the importance of heavy duty vehicles in society. The premise for this movie was inspired from a YouTube video CoMo watched when he was a kid. CoJu then proposed that the movie recieved bad ratings due to it having furries, despite this universe containing actual living sapient non-human animals. CoMo, who was actually thinking about this earlier in the day, told CoJu that he planned to make Lynn do a school project about discrimination, and Lynn interviewed a sapient animal and asked them about furries, and then they said that they felt uncomfortable around them, comparing fursuits to blackface. Nothing serious here, fellas. Just a little... silly thought.

At some point in time, Coast To Coast CoMo and Coach Julius toyed with the idea of Sharyo and its 20 siblings were just normal animals in Light Rail Vehicle suits. They decided this was weird and ass.

Destination sign.
